Reserved Tickets and General Admission Tickets are available! Reserved Tickets are assigned (best available at our discretion) in the first three rows on the floor and in the first row of the risers. There are a limited amount of Reserved tickets available, be sure to submit your orders early!  General Admission for all other seats.

***Friday and Saturday at 7:00 reserved are sold out** Only three reserved left for Saturday at 2:00!

There are two ways to purchase tickets to performances: ordering online by Clicking here before Thursday, May 2nd at 8:30am or at the door, if tickets are still available.

CARNIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

 WE URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS TO SIGN UP FOR OUR SMS CARNIVAL! Our annual SMS Carnival is only successful through the efforts of our many parent volunteers. We have time slots available for you to sign up at many different booths and games. All of the sign ups can be found here:

Every family is required to volunteer for at least 2 hours at Carnival, and it is the perfect event to complete any additional service hours you may still need. Thank you for your support and see you at Carnival!

VIRTUS TRAINING – In accordance with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People all diocesan employees, clergy, religious, teachers, staff, and all volunteers who regularly or routinely work with children or youth participate in a Protecting God’s Children for Adults (VIRTUS) training session. This link connects to the VIRTUS website listing of currently scheduled training sessions within the Diocese of Richmond. To register for one of the sessions, click the Start Registration button. You will be prompted to create a user id and password. Follow the prompts to continue the registration process. After entering your personal information, a drop down function will enable you to select a Diocese of Richmond training center location/date/time. Continue to follow instructions as indicated to complete the pre-registration process. Childcare is not available unless noted on the session listing. There is no charge for this training. Sessions are available online and in person. St. Matthew’s School VIRTUS Facilitator Louise Lewis will be hosting online VIRTUS sessions on the following dates and times:

Saturday 5/4/24 @ 9am –  13 spots available
Saturday 5/18/24 @ 9am –  19 spots available
Saturday 5/30/2024 @ 6pm – 14 spots available

From the Music Corner: Mrs. Alberto

1.Our Middle School choir trip to Kings Dominion is on Friday, May 17, 2024. Below is our itinerary and list of expectations for all students and chaperones going on the trip. Students will be representing St. Matthew’s School and will listen to the directions of their chaperones and Mrs. Alberto.

**Those Middle School Students who have participated in 1st or 2nd semester Choir this school year may sign up to participate in the Choir Competition at Kings Dominion.

2. All 3rd through 8th grade students will be performing in “SMS Film Festival“, our Spring Musicale this year, at Regent University’s Chapel on Wednesday, May 22nd at 7pm. Doors will open at 6pm.

Attire will be Class shirts, uniform shorts/skorts, and uniform sneakers.
Free parking and admission.
More information about parking and location to the chapel is attached.

All students from 3rd through 8th Grade are expected to perform.

Greetings SMS Military Families!! 

St. Matthew’s will be holding our fourth annual ”Call For the Arts” contest! The contest is open to Military children in grades Pre-K-8th of Active Duty, Retired, and/or Veteran members of the Armed Services and National Guard/Reserves. This contest is similar to other National contests held for Military children where there is an opportunity for Military kids to share and express ways in which they live their lives—with the chance to win prizes!

There will be four divisions: Pre-K, K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th. The theme for this contest is “Show how you thrive with the support of your family, friends, school, or community!”  Although this is an art contest, we ask that submissions be drawings and/or for the middle school students, an essay (note: middle school students have the option to submit either a drawing or an essay). The essays should be no more than 400 words.

Submissions are open and the deadline is tonight– Friday, April 26th, 2024 at midnight. You can submit artwork and/or essays either in person to the School Counselor’s mailbox or via email to [email protected]. Please provide name & class as well as the branch of service on submissions.

Gary Burdette (SMS Alumni Family) with American Builders Construction Corp. is installing a permanent electrical hook-up from the White House (Spirit Shop) to the backstop at the far end of the field. This provides us a permanent solution to having electricity available for Carnival and other events now and in the future. We sincerely thank Mr. Burdette for his time and talents over the years in making sure our electricity was working and for helping to provide this permanent outdoor solution!

Elastic waist pants ready?! All-you-can-eat SMS Shrimp Fest tickets are available NOW for May 9 from 6-10 pm. Click here to get your tickets! Tickets are $45 per person (adult or child) and include all-you-can-eat shrimp, BBQ, cole slaw, hush puppies, onion rings, baked beans, soft drinks, and adult beverages.

Calling all stylish pups and their paw-rents!  Get ready to wag your tails and strut your stuff at the SMS Carnival Doggie Fashion Show!

Join us for a paw-some event full of style and smiles. Dress up your doggie in their cutest, coolest, or most creative outfit and let them shine on our runway. Owners are encouraged to match their pups in coordinating outfits if they’d like to add an extra touch of style and fun to the event.  It’s a tail-wagging extravaganza you won’t want to miss!

Free entry for all doggie participants!  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded. Whether your dog rocks a bow tie, tutu, or trendy bandana, everyone is welcome to participate!

For the safety of your dog and our carnival guests, we kindly request that you arrive with your dog no earlier than 45 minutes before the fashion show begins, and that you promptly escort your dog from the premises after the show concludes. As well, in keeping with the city of Virginia Beach city code, your dog has to be on a leash or lead at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
