Leader in Me
St. Matthew’s School is proud to be a Lighthouse School. On April 24, 2018, St. Matthew’s was designated as one of 385 Lighthouse Schools Worldwide. We are extremely proud of the honor of this designation, as it recognizes that St. Matthew’s is a Beacon for others to Model. Virginia Distinguished Purple Star School
The Virginia Purple Star Designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. St. Matthew’s School is very proud to be recognized as a Virginia Distinguished Purple Star School. We have an exceptionally strong connection with our armed forces. A large portion of our student population is from military families.
On September 25, 2026, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Chapter at St. Matthew’s was recognized as a Chapter of Distinction. The NJHS Chapters of Distinction is a national recognition program created by NJHS to honor chapters that demonstrate strong leadership, sound operations, and a deep commitment to the pillars of the Honor Society. This distinction recognizes chapters that meet all Essential Standards and excel in key areas such as student governance and leadership development. “The St. Matthew’s chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change,” said NPA CEO Ronn Nozoe.
